baby gift : initial bag

it started off with a tiny little sketch:

which became a big sketch:

which got cut up for my pattern.

then i cut all my pieces:

and the sewing began.

eventually, i had a finished patchwork square:


my problem was that i hadn't thought any further than that.

so, i pulled some fabric out and toyed with some ideas, none really jumping out at me.

so i started another square:




and patched it to match the size of my first one:


and by then, BAG was pretty much decided.

i cut two solid squares for the back of each patchwork square (because, if you're gonna make a bag, might as well be reversible, right?!) and made some handles:


pinned it all together:






and top-stitched the whole thing:
