daylight savings

japan doesn't observe daylight savings. so when good old ohio switched its clocks back last weekend, the time here didn't move a minute. that makes the time change 14 hours. now, 13 hours was just barely managable. i could sometimes catch my friends in the(ir) morning, before i went to bed. but now, it's only by staying up later than i should that i can really talk to anyone online. and on days like today, it just adds to my misery.

also regarding the lack of daylight savings time: it looks like 10pm at 6pm. it's downright depressing and cold. lately i have been sleeping with my curtains open and i wake up to the sun by 6:15am. we could REALLY use that time in the evening. why don't they get it? for a long time i thought daylight savings was nothing more than a pain to remember and completely pointless. but now...? now i want it back. give me daylight!!!

school daze: english bloopers

i was helping Nikko's class and the 7th graders were playing a game listing foods.

under the listing MEAT:

"the cock"

Nikko and i had a stiffled laugh and then insisted to each other that surely they meant chicken.
