rainy winter day

it finally rained in tokyo after what was apparently a really long dry spell. the air this morning was cold and crisp, but felt wet and refreshing in my nose and lungs.

of course there's only so much damp cold a person can take before they break out the fleece socks, the chenille throw blanket, the scarf AND a hat. and then you just have to give up:

so, in attempts to warm up in my 12degree apartment, i took a bath. my skin is red (the sign a of a good hot soaking in the tub!) my toes and fingers are not quite to the wrinkly stage, and (not bath related, technically) my eyelids are so heavy i nearly fall asleep if i sit still for more than 5 minutes. i know i shouldn't, but i'm going to bed.

jet lag 1, jo 0.

side note: i have to leave the house at 6:40am tomorrow for work. with any stroke of luck will be home by 8pm after helping to proctor AND grade the tests of over 800 hopeful 6th grade elementary school kids who want to enter the middle school come april: welcome to entrance test season hell.

Jo - how are you? I'm an east coast American living in Hong Kong since Jan. I'm trying to put together my little cadre of expat Asia blogs and I like yours. Wondering if you wanted to trade links?

My blog (lemme know what you think):

Happy 09!
