i blame the beers

back in july, we had a program at school where a bunch of canadian and american college kids came and taught classes and worked on projects with our 9th graders for a week an a half.

during the program, Mr. S, the japanese representative for the canadian company that organized the program, took the canadian students out to dinner and the students put some photos from the night up on facebook. in one of the photos was some random guy i'd never seen, so i innocently (haha) commented, "who is this guy?" and one of the girls wrote back saying it was Mr. S's son. i wrote, "note to self: become friends with Mr. S. haha" and another girl commented back and said, "hahaha...he's quite the charmer too!"

flash forward to tonight:
the owner of the canadian company and Mr. S came to school for a meeting. and the meeting was followed by, of course, dinner and drinking.

(can anyone else see where this is leading??)

of course i managed to bring up the photo and the comments about the photo and what followed was what i imagined was merely a drunk offer from Mr. S. to introduce me to his son. i jokingly said, "well, does he speak english??" and when the answer was "yes" (!!!), i quickly added that even as friends, i'm always open to making new friends in japan, hoping i hadn't overstepped my "professional" boundaries...

but, then on the train on the way home, Mr. S. remembered (ACK!) and after giving me his business card said, "i'll introduce to you my son, please email me." heeheehee...

and, on a completely other note, on the side, i mentioned to the president of the canadian company that i'm interested in his company during dinner, (right now they only have Mr. S. working in japan on behalf of the company) and when one of the japanese english teachers from school overheard me say that, he half jokingly gestured like he was pulling at my arm and said, "don't go, don't go" (...ah, i am loved.) i couldn't really talk with the president at dinner about it much, but we chatted the whole way home (30 minutes or so on the train) about his company and the job prospects that may or may not be available.

shall be interesting to see what unfolds...

and then, thinking WAY farther ahead than may even be appropriate (i tend to do that), i thought, what would happen if things go well on all fronts and i end up dating my boss's son?!!! hahaha...
