sin den

i guess it's worth paying the extra yen so that some hairdresser who doesn't know how to cut fine wavy hair doesn't make me cry. right? well, that's what i'll choose to tell myself. and my wallet.

i don't think i'd gotten my haircut since...well, actually, i don't know when. i do know that i got it cut last august (a spontaneous "let's cut it chin length" decision) and regretted it so much that i swore off haircuts for months.

my hairdresser, Takako Kai at Sin Den, was recommended to me by Style (and Bee). she's in her late 20s (i'm guessing), talkative but not nosey, and mixes japanese with her english in a really cute way. mostly particles and other little add-ons like "みたい", "でしょう" and "~な感じ"

she gave me a pretty basic haircut (trimmed the ends, shaped up the layers, etc) and then did what almost every other japanese stylist has ever done to my hair; she straightened it. not that i mind completely, because the result is hair so soft it doesn't even feel like mine! it's just that i would never spend that much time straightening hair that is just going to frizz and curl as soon as the tokyo humidity hits it. but, it looks nice while it lasts!

now i just have to figure out how to wear it to the wedding on sunday. :)
