it's officially summer in my apartment: i turned on my air-conditioning unit last night and had to change the setting from "heater" to "cooler."
thanks to its lovely technological timer, i was able to fall asleep in a nicely cooled room and wake up in the same state, without running it all night. i thought it was a bunch of bs when japanese people warned me not to sleep with my air-conditioner (hot OR cold) on all night. it only takes one night to realize their warnings were true. you wake up with a sore throat, often a headache an/or fever, and feeling yucky. hence the timer system.
lately i had been sleeping with the windows open, and while the "fresh" air was great, the noise from the street woke me up at all hours of the night/early morning, and my energy has suffered. not to mention that i'm putting in 10-12 hour days at work. i'm really dragging. last night, i was in bed by 10:30pm, woke up around midnight when i got a text message from Parker (and someone else? i don't remember, i was half asleep when i looked...) and again some time after 5 (when the air unit kicked in, i think). basically, i am still wishing i had a couple more hours in my wonderful bed.
is it summer break yet??
