What's a nijikai?
the nijikai is the party after the wedding reception. wedding ceremonies and receptions are expensive and often have small guest lists, so everyone else gets invited to the [pay your own way] after party. it's a pretty orderly and scheduled event in japan compared to an american wedding reception or after party, with MCs and games and of course food, drinks and mingling time too!
