maybe i posted too early about moving...hello jinx, not so nice to meet you.
Ro did some calling and looking into the internet situation in the new apartment and it seems like there's no current setup at the place. though he has only talked to some useless people at the management company and hasn't talked to our useful realtor yet, so there's hope, but it's running thin. and also, i find it hard to believe that none of the other eight tenants haven't asked the owner to make the building internet friendly! really??
all the internet companies say, "well, we can set it up, but we can't make any guarantees about whether or not it will work or how fast it will be. but we'll give you the first 2 months free." it's like, if it doesn't work, who the hell cares about 2 free months! Ro and i have pretty much agreed that internet is a must for us. but as of now, no one can tell us if we can or can't get access; we won't know until we try. well, by then it'll be too late to find out we don't want to live there.
sigh.
the real estate agent, management company or landlord won't be getting any of our money until we can get an answer. and even then, depending on the answer, they still might not get any of our money.
i have my fingers [double, triple, quadruple] crossed that it's just a case of old people at the management company who don't know what the hell they are doing (or even what the internet is!) and internet companies who don't want to get caught making empty promises.
when things seem too good to be true, they just might be.
